The Half Moon Outfitters Distribution Center is a 9,400sf facility.  Half-Moon Outfitters has been providing the Southeast with quality goods and services for adventure and travel since 1993. The owner and design team’s commitment to sustainability transformed a retired automotive repair shop into the first LEED Platinum building in South Carolina, and only the 25th in the nation to receive LEED Platinum status. 

Sustainable design features included: 

  • Optimized Energy Performance (49% reduction in energy use)
  • Energy Efficient Lighting
  • Energy Efficient HVAC system
  • Daylight Harvesting system
  • Rainwater collection system
  • Active temperature and humidity control to maximize thermal comfort     
  • Photovoltaic energy generation system
  • Use rainwater for toilets/Use of rainwater for landscape irrigation
  • Energy management system to monitor thermal comfort/verify effectiveness
  • HCFC and HFC based refrigerant systems
  • Increased outdoor air ventilation and monitoring
  • Utilization of MERV 13 filters for increased IAQ during construction
  • Lighting design that reduces light pollution

Commissioning encompassed the following System/Equipment:

  • Central building automation system 
  • All equipment of the heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems
  • Scheduled or occupancy sensor lighting controls
  • Daylight dimming controls
